Governors

Governing Board’s Welcome

We are a board of 15 governors, drawn from parents, staff and the wider community, who work in close partnership with the Senior Leadership Team to:

Set and safeguard the school’s vision, values and ethos
Provide strategic direction for long-term development and improvement
Hold school leaders to account for educational performance and pupil outcomes
Oversee financial probity and ensure long-term sustainability

Governance at Blatchington Mill School is strategic rather than operational. We provide oversight, challenge and support, ensuring that decisions are evidence-informed and aligned with the school’s long-term priorities. Governors however do not manage the day-to-day or operational running of the school.

We are committed to transparency, strong accountability and continuous development in our own governance practice.

The Governing Body consists of:

1 Governor appointed by the Local Authority;
2 Parent Governors elected by parents and carers;
2 Staff governors (one being the Headteacher ex officio, the other elected by staff);
10 Governors co-opted by the other governors in post, to fill skills gaps
