Google Workspace

Introduction

As a student, you have a Blatch Google account. This allows you to use GMail for school email, Google Classroom to see work that has been set including homework and Google Docs, Sheets, Slides and Drive to create and manage your school work. To see a full list of Google products that have been assigned to you visit workspace.google.com/dashboard while logged in to your Blatch Google account.

Registration

You do not need to register, the school has created a Google account for each student. You will be told your email address and password when you first join Blatch. The account you use outside of school is the same account you use when you sign in to a Chromebook in school. Information about changing your password is available here. If you have forgotten the details, please contact Network Services at school.

Signing in/Adding your Blatch Google account to a browser or device

You will need to add your Blatch Google account to the devices (laptop, tablet, phone, computer etc) that you are using. The process of doing this varies depending on the browser and the device you are using but you can usually browse to accounts.google.com/AddSession in a web browser on your device to add a new account.

When you sign in to a Blatch Chromebook, you don’t need to enter the @blatchingtonmill.org.uk part of your email address. When you are adding your account to a non-school device, you will need to enter your full email address. You will probably only need to do this once on each device. Your email address will be similar to 27CBucket@blatchingtonmill.org.uk where the number represents the year that your Year group started at Blatch.

Once the account has been added to your device, it is just a case of making sure you are using the correct account when accessing school resources. You may already have a personal Google account on the device. You can swap between different accounts by clicking on the profile icon, which is often a circle with a single letter in it and is usually at the top right of most Google pages or products.

If you sign in to Google Classroom for example and don’t see any classes. Click on the profile icon to make sure you are using your Blatch account and not a personal one.

Google Email

https://mail.google.com/

Students use GMail for their school email. If prompted to log in to Google, students should use their school email address, which takes the form school_login@blatchingtonmill.org.uk and the password they use to log in to Chromebooks or computers in school. You can read notifications about Homework, Google classroom changes and other information from the School in your mailbox.

Google Classroom

https://classroom.google.com/

Google Classroom is used during some lessons to share resources and to set assignments. Teachers will let students know if that is the case for a particular lesson. To access Google Classroom click on the link above. If prompted to log in to Google, students should use their school email address, which takes the form school_login@blatchingtonmill.org.uk and the password they use to log in to Chromebooks or computers in school as described above.

Please find the Google Classroom guide for parents and carers here.

Google Drive

https://drive.google.com/

Homework set for students may refer to the Homework Resources Google Drive. Your MyDrive also contains the work you have produced at school. As with other Google resources, if prompted to log in, students should use their school email address (school_login@blatchingtonmill.org.uk) and the password as described above.

EduLink One and Homework

Students use EduLink One to handle their homework. Unlike parents/carers they sign into it by selecting "Sign in with Google". For this to work they must have already added their school Google account to the device they are using. There School Google account is the same as the one they use to sign into a Chromebook at school.

They can use the service by going to the website edulinkone.com or by installing the EduLink One app on their device. The School ID is BMS.
