Job Profile

This is a hugely exciting role in our dedicated and dynamic Student Support team. A team that is highly valued and integral to the inclusive and aspirational ethos of our school, where we seek to nurture the success and self belief of all of our students.

We are looking for a Teaching Assistant to work with students at our school who have English as an Additional Language.

This is a fabulous opportunity for development for an individual with passion for Inclusion and a drive to help students to overcome barriers to learning.

The existing post holder is beginning their maternity leave during the summer term and so we are planning for a handover period to ensure that their great work can be continued and built upon.

An ideal candidate would be creative and solution focussed with empathy and a determination to help young people achieve their full potential.

This role involves working with students, their families, colleagues in school and outside agencies and so an ability to communicate effectively is important.

The post holder will receive weekly coaching/support, along with other relevant CPD to ensure they can support others credibly, plan systematically and develop themselves.

At Blatchington Mill School we welcome applications from all parts of our community as we aspire to have a staff body that matches the social and cultural diversity of our student intake. This organisation is a popular choice for staff commuting or planning a move from London and other areas of the South of England.

If you wish to apply for this role please complete and return an application form by the closing date (CVs alone cannot be considered)

Closing date: 21st April 2026 - midday

Interview date: w.c 27th April 2026

Please submit your completed application form via email to recruitment@blatchingtonmill.org.uk addressed to Amanda Brasington, PA to the Headteacher.

Blatchington Mill School is committed to safeguarding our students; we expect all staff and volunteers to support this commitment. Criminal record checks will be carried out and a full, enhanced DBS clearance is required for all positions.
Applications are encouraged from black and ethnic minority candidates, as these groups are under-represented on the school's staff.
(Race Relations Act sections 35-38 apply).
