Year 11 GCSE Food Students Work with Waitrose Fishmonger
On Wednesday 21st year 11 students benefitted from a visit from Paul the Fishmonger. He gave an excellent presentation which included naming types of fish, as well as learning about where they come from, the nutritional value of fish and the environmental impact of different fishing methods.
Paul then demonstrated how to fillet a mackerel and talked about different cooking methods for fish.
Waitrose kindly donated a crate of Mackerel through their Community Matters scheme.
On Thursday the students practised filleting fish and then made 2 recipes:
Grilled Mackerel with soy, ginger and lime
Thanks to Paul for helping us to deliver a great lesson.
