Spanish Theatre Trip
20 students from Years 9 and 10 recently travelled to the Cervantes Theatre in London for a Spanish Theatre Experience!
The day started with an acting workshop in which students prepared photo 'stills' in groups based on the main themes of the play 'Yerma' (by Federico García Lorca) with one of the play's actors. The students thoroughly enjoyed the play 'Yerma' and showed a mature interest in the themes of gender, repression, nature and motherhood amongst many others. The performance was, of course, in Spanish and allowed Year 9 and 10 that extra real-life experience of needing to use their language skills.
The end of the experience involved the students asking the play's director and main actors questions about the play - some even did so in Spanish - which demonstrated their creative and critical understanding of the historical work.
Miss Huxford said, ‘I was so proud to take such a discerning and involved group of students to London for what I hope was an unforgettable and unique theatrical experience!’
