Parents and Carers Maths Morning

Wednesday, 17 January 2018

On Tuesday we welcomed a number of parents and carers into school in order to build their skills and confidence in dealing with key stage 3 maths alongside their children.

Mrs Markham ran a session which included tips for remembering times tables, an introduction to shape and nets, some fun maths riddles and even a pack for parents and carers to take home in order to help them support their children with maths work.

The session was well received by the parents and carers who attended. One parent said, ‘I feel more confident to support my daughter with the basics’ while another said that they loved being able to spend time learning with their child and that the session was ‘better than an iPad!’ Our students also responded well to the session with one year 7 enjoying the opportunity to ‘see if mum knew everything’ and another saying, ‘I really enjoyed this group and wish that it was every week’.

We’re so pleased with the positive response to this session and hope to be able to run lots more in the future. We’d like to thank all of the parents, carers and students who took part for showing such enthusiasm and making it a great morning!
