At our sixth form students can study either level 3 courses (A-Levels or BTECs) or one year level 2 course s, including English and/or Maths GCSE, which will act as a stepping stone to either level 3 courses with us, or opportunities further afield. All staff in the sixth form are experienced and through the interview and monitoring process ensure that students choose appropriate courses and study programs based on prior attainment and future career choices.
We have introduced new courses for 2017/18, which cater for differing abilities and learning styles, which will enthuse and engage students. Full details of all these courses and entry requirements are available in our Sixth Form Prospectus [pdf] and in the table below.
Courses are divided into three schools, Business, Social Science, and Creative Arts, which enable students to choose a focused pathway and support students in following an appropriate study program for future progression. From this year we have established closer links with Hove Park Sixth Form, which allows for a more extensive course offer and enables us to work collaboratively to ensure quality teaching, learning and outcomes for all students.
Our aim is to provide a supportive yet demanding environment within which all students can make a smooth transition from GCSE work to the greater independence and sophistication of sixth form study. The vibrant learning environment is paired with smaller classes that enable students to receive a learning experience tailored to their individual needs, abilities and ambitions.
All our students are assigned personal tutors who they see regularly and frequently throughout the year. Advice is always available for students from all teachers within the college; whether it’s about employment, courses, individual assistance with applications to higher education or employment, or even personal advice with life outside of education. Students are supported by their personal tutors during and outside tutor sessions, encouraging students to achieve the best they can at sixth form.
