Displacement Reactions and Particles

20 January 2015 - Science - Year 9

My Year 9 students were asked to use their knowledge and understanding of displacement reactions and particles to draw a cartoon to model a displacement reaction.

Chantelle's work is particularly excellent because:

  • she's drawn a simple cartoon which accurately represents the reaction
  • she's chosen her own reactants and correctly written both word equation and symbol equations
  • she's explained the link between the reactivity series and this displacement reaction
  • she's explained that there is conservation of mass during the reaction
  • she's used scientific language correctly throughout
  • she's used these key words accurately: atom, molecule, element, compound
  • And she's completed this piece of work independently, applying knowledge and understanding gained in lessons
