This is not an examined course and students taking it do not gain a qualification by following it.

Course description:

Students taking Supported Self Study will attend a supervised lesson with a member of school staff, where they arrive equipped to work independently on other subjects. This gives them additional time to cope with the demands of Key Stage 4 and receive support from a teacher. These lessons are timetabled, where possible, in a computer room to allow access to ICT which aids research and the presentation of notes etc.

This option subject is recommended for those who might struggle to cope with the quantity and difficulty of work at this level. A degree of organisation and self motivation is necessary for those wishing to follow this choice. Students considering opting for Supported Self Study should discuss the suitability of this with Mr Wheatly-Crowe (in Student Support) and their Year Manager.
