This is a course that is ideal for rock musicians and those interested in developing their use of computers to create and record music. Lessons will be taught in the music suite which is equipped with Mac computers running ‘Garageband’ and ‘Logic Express’. Access to these facilities and our recording studio will be available at lunch-times and after school in scheduled time slots.
Course structure:
Three units will be studied:
- Planning and creating a musical product – either a CD or live gig
- Producing a musical recording
- Using computer systems for creating music
Homework:
Homework will be research and task based using school equipment after school.
Assessment, weighting and timings of assessments:
The final award will be either a pass, merit or distinction. One assessment will be completed each half term.

Access to the internet at home will be useful.
Opportunities for study beyond Key Stage 4:
This course can lead to ‘A’ Level Music or BTEC Level 3 in Music Technology, offered at Blatch 6.
