Extended Day
If students are interested in studying an additional Performing-Arts subject (Music, Drama or Dance) they can do so through our extended day programme, as an evening class. If students opt for this, they will be expected to attend all extended day lessons which will run every Monday that the school is in session.
Classes start promptly at 6.00pm and end at 8.00pm. A register will be taken and late or non-attendance will be swiftly followed up.Drama, Dance and Music will be two year courses starting in September 2008, with exams taken in Summer 2010.
Students opting for Music should have a proven track record of instrumental and / or vocal ability. They should also have taken part in the Music department extra curricular programme and have attended regular instrumental or vocal lessons.Although school uniform need not be worn, students are asked to dress appropriately for the subject.
Parents / carers are responsible for your prompt arrival and collection on departure.
(Please note that you must not bring anyone with you as a casual observer.)
Only the Nevill Avenue entrance / exit will be open (car or pedestrian).
Homework will be set regularly and you will be expected to meet all deadlines. You will attend internal exams, Mock Exams and Final Exams in Year 11, within the school’s schedule, which will be published, in advance, to your tutors.
You must supply yourself with writing equipment and notebook. Some materials will be supplied by the school.
In the case of an unavoidable absence, please telephone the Director of Performing Arts in advance, who will pass on the message to the subject tutor. If the subject tutor is unable to attend, the school will inform you in advance whenever possible. There is no charge for the course, though a contribution may be requested for optional course related visits.
A contract will be sent to students and signed by both you and your parents and returned to the Director of Performing Arts. Without this signed contract, you will be unable to take part in the Extended Day programme.
