Drama GSCE
Course description:
The GCSE Drama course is a very popular option with students. It is 60% practically assessed and 40% written, with a mixture of coursework and end of course exam. As part of the course students will be involved in at least two public performances as well as being given the opportunity to take part in our many extra-curricular productions. All lessons take place in our fully equipped Drama Studio.
Course structure:
The course will focus on different aspects of the syllabus each term:

Homework:
Will be a mixture of learning lines and rehearsing for performances. As well as this there will be two pieces of coursework set and students will be expected to keep a diary of practical work covered.
Assessment, weighting and timings of assessments:
Teacher on stage with a microphone60% practical – each performance is worth 30%, with the two best grades used for the GCSE.
40% is a written response to work performed and live theatre seen.

Opportunities for study beyond Key Stage 4:
AS and A2 Level Drama are both very popular and successful courses at Blatch 6. We are also introducing a new level 3 BTEC in Musical Theatre.
