Well, the weather wasn’t kind to us but nothing could dampen the spirits of the students as they battled to come top in their races.

The day started with Dean Lightwood bringing his Olympic Torch to inspire and encourage the students for the day’s activities, as well as two ‘Lloyds TSB Local Heroes’ - Will Grey (Athletics distance events) and Wesley Connellan (Swimmer). Will Grey is an ex-student of Blatchington Mill and Blatch were thrilled to have the opportunity to congratulate him on his sponsorship from Lloyds TSB.

There were some slips and slides but as warning came through that heavier rain was to come, the day was closed early with more sterling efforts by the students, with raucous appreciation from the stands, for the final races.
Special mention should be given to Mr Fitzpatrick for entertaining us with his commentary and for Mr Whittington for his sterling organisation of the events and the programme.

We will have some exciting results to present when they have all been collated. Watch out for the newsletter in September.
Congratulations to all students and staff on another inspiring day!
