Guidance on Standards
Uniform
Students are required to wear school uniform. Like you, we expect young people to look clean and tidy.
- Logo to be seen on uniform
- Simple plain school trousers or skirts, not with extra frills, pockets etc.
- No trainers (change of footwear needed for PE, should be trainers or appropriate boots)
- Plain black shoes required. No boots
- No patterned tights
- No shorts (tailored or otherwise) or any trousers other than full length
- No denim jeans or combat trousers
- Appropriate skirt length
- If ties worn the knot should be visible
- No gloves or scarves in lessons
- No hoodies – with or without zips. A hoodie is made of sweatshirt material and is not waterproof
- Only ‘Blatch’ uniform and a coat is allowable. No other sweaters/cardigans are allowed
- Hoods on coats not to be worn on school premises
- No outer garments to be worn in lessons
- One ring per hand
- One stud/ small sleeper per ear. (hoops should not be large enough to get a finger through)
- No other piercings
- No studded or coloured belts.
- No mobile phones to be visible or audible during school day. Never to be used in school buildings
- No MP3 players or other electronic devices
Students are not allowed to wear:
- hoodies (with or without front zips), studded or coloured belts
- trainers (ie not acceptable with rubber soles, logo, multiple lace eyelets), flip-flops or boots
- patterned tights
- shorts (tailored or otherwise) or any trousers other than full length
- jeans style trousers – defined as such if one of the following criteria fit; rivets, double stitching, studded or jean style material
- extremes of fashion whether in hair or elsewhere.
If incorrectly dressed, the student will be sent home to change once Student Services have contacted their parents to agree this. If parents cannot be contacted, student will spend day (including lunch and break) in isolation with the Year Manager.
Equipment
Students are expected to have the following basic equipment with them:
- Pen and spare
- Pencil and spare/sharpener
- Ruler
- Rubber
- Colouring pencils
- Calculator, compass etc
- Homework diary
- Appropriate sized school ba
Behaviour
- No shouting in corridors, nor walking more than 2 abreast
- Always walk on the left
- No eating in corridors
- Hold doors open for each other
- Don’t drop litter
