What is Friends at Blatch?
All parents and carers are automatically members of Friends at Blatch. However, you can be part of the school community and meet other enthusiastic parents by becoming an active member of Friends at Blatchington Mill School (FAB).
What FAB does:
Act as a sounding board regarding school procedures and future developments. Members of the school management committee use the comments and suggestions received as an important part of the school’s self-evaluation procedure.
Raise funds for the school (This comes under the umbrella of the Parent and Teachers’ Association (PTA) which is a registered charity).
Blatchington Mill School has been given a 17 seater Ford Transit minibus through fundraising by 'Friends At Blatch'
All it takes is an hour of your time every now and again (meetings are held every half-term) to make a difference to the quality of the educational experience for students.
FAB events past and present
Last year FAB hosted a very successful salsa evening in
October, led by professional Brazilian Salsa teachers. Next
on the agenda was ‘helping save the planet’ by recycling
broken and unwanted jewellery from students and staff which raised over £200. Our third Golf Event in June, open to parents, students and staff, was fully subscribed and raised an amazing £300 with generous support from Legal &
General. FAB were pleased to provide hospitality at various
school productions, and adding to the buzz of ‘singalong /
dressup’ evenings with bar, raffle and hot food. All funds
raised are ploughed back into the School, spread across the
whole curriculum. However, FAB are not just about
fundraising. Our meetings are held once a half term, and
involve discussion on all manner of things which might affect the school and our children’s education. This term, look outfor our next meeting on Tuesday 15th September, Family Quiz on Friday 2nd October and the Jewellery Recycling Scheme will run again this Autumn.
