Friends at Blatch

What is Friends at Blatch?

All parents and carers are automatically members of Friends at Blatch. However, you can be part of the school community and meet other enthusiastic parents by becoming an active member of Friends at Blatchington Mill School (FAB).

What FAB does:

Act as a sounding board regarding school procedures and future developments. Members of the school management committee use the comments and suggestions received as an important part of the school’s self-evaluation procedure.

Raise funds for the school (This comes under the umbrella of the Parent and Teachers’ Association (PTA) which is a registered charity).

Blatchington Mill School has been given a 17 seater Ford Transit minibus through fundraising by 'Friends At Blatch'

All it takes is an hour of your time every now and again (meetings are held every half-term) to make a difference to the quality of the educational experience for students.

It's been another FAB year!

September saw FAB putting on our first Fashion Show - it was such a success that we have planned another one for Thursday 3rd November (further details nearer date).

Our next fundraiser found us on Brighton and Hove Golf Course in May. This popular annual event encourages teams of Students, Parents and Staff to tackle a Texas Scramble around nine holes, followed by a sausage and mash supper.

A 'Quiz with Fizz' in July ended the School year. Cash prizes were on offer, along with a Bar and Raffle! Another initiative is our jewellery recycling scheme. This normally runs for a two week period some time during the year, and is usually very profitable for FAB funds.

As ever, we are very glad to provide refreshments for any shows, concerts or other events when asked and thanks go to all the Brew Crew. This is our steady income, so plays an important role in our finances, which in turn enables us to make donations to School departments/projects as needed. The main target for FAB's fundraising at present is a minibus – so every little helps!

All Parents and Carers are welcome to come to FAB meetings, where we always have an item to discuss relating to School Self-evaluation, plus other items which Parents may wish to bring up.
