KS3 (end of Year 9) results 2012
- KS3 results are based on Teacher Assessments at the end of Year 9 (the final year of KS3).
- Our KS3 results in our core subjects (English, Maths and Science): 91.4% of students achieved assessments at the end of Year 9 of Level 5 or higher in English, 83.6% reached Level 5 or higher in Maths and 83.8% achieved Level 5 or higher in Science.
- 59.2% of students reached Level 6 or higher in English, 63.8% in Maths and over 55% in Science.
- 36.8% of students reached an end of Year 9 assessed grade of Level 7 or higher in Maths, 26.2% in Science and 17.1% in English.
- Students excelled again in 2012 across the widest range of subjects. Over 95% off our students achieved Level 5+ in Art, D&T, ICT, PE & Music. Over 90% of our students achieved this benchmark in History, Geography and MFL.
KS4 (end of Year 11) results 2012
This was another strong year for Blatchington Mill compared to national figures. Results rose slightly despite a decline nationally. The table below shows the key results compared to previous years.

5+ *A/C EM refers to those students achieving 5 or more GCSE grades at C or higher, including English Language and Maths at that level. 5+ A*/C refers to students achieving 5 or more GCSEs at grade C or higher in any subject. 1+ A*/G refers to students achieving at least one GCSE at grade G or higher.
- The number of students achieving the key government benchmark of 5A*to C grades including English and Maths remained ahead of national averages at 61%, despite overall A*-C grades nationally dropping by 0.4%.
- Students achieving 5 A*to C grades in all subjects reached 84%, a large increase from 78.4% the previous year.
- 71.1% of students achieved a C grade or higher in English Language, and 67.6% reached C or higher in Maths. 67.6% of students met the benchmark for Science of 2 or more C grades or higher in Science subjects.
- A* to C achievement remained strong across all subjects in 2012. Subjects in which students achieved over 80% A* to C grades this year included Art (95.2%), Food Technology (81.3%), Drama (84.3%), French (86%), German (91.7%), Music (97.4%), and Statistics (98.1%).
- Performance at the top A*/A grades remained high with 31% of all grades at A*/A in 2012 a 6% improvement from the previous year. Subjects achieving over 25% A*/A grades at GCSE in 2012 included Art (30.8%), Child Development (53.6%), Drama (37.3%), English Literature (29.6%), Food Technology (40.6%), French (30.4%), German (33.3%), Music (57.9%), Textiles (36.4%), Geography (39%), History (37.2%), and Science (25.5%).
KS5 results 2012
- Our A2 results in 2012 were the highest for five years. 51% of students achieved A* to B grades, 13% up on last year, and 74% of students achieved a C grade or higher (6% ahead of last year's figure). 99% of students achieved A*-E grades, an increase of 5% from the previous year.
- AS results consolidated. Results at A to B were 22%, A to C rose to 52%, a rise of 8% from the previous year, and A to E climbed to 86%, a rise of 6%.
