Health and Social Care BTEC First Diploma

Course Content

BTEC Health and Social Care is work related. All the topics students cover relate to the skills and knowledge students need in the work place. There are no exams; instead students will complete 6 assignments. Students will be encouraged to take responsibility for their own learning and the course will require significant work outside the classroom. The course includes visits to local health care providers and visiting speakers who come to College and share their knowledge and experience. The course includes several practical activities and students will also need to complete a 2 week related work placement.
Those who hope to have a career in health and social care need to understand the skills involved in caring for people with different needs from birth to old age. The course offers a good basis for anyone wanting a career in nursing, support work, mental health or youth work.
