Hair NVQ Level 2

This course will develop further student knowledge and skills in hairdressing. Students will explore topics such as advising and consulting with clients, styling hair using drying and setting techniques, basic cutting techniques, perming and colouring hair and developing and maintaining your effectiveness at work.

9 Units are required for a complete NVQ Level 2 qualification:

1. Ensure understanding of actions reduce risks to Health and safety
2. Give clients a positive impression of self and organisation
3. Advise and consult with clients
4. Cut hair using basic techniques
5. Shampoo and condition hair and scalp
6. Style, dress and finish hair using basic techniques
7. Perm and neutralise hair using basic techniques
8. Change hair colour using basic techniques
9. Develop and maintain your effectiveness at work

Assessment

There is no final examination but you students will be continuously assessed using a range of methods; observation of practical work, oral questions, assignments, written tests and portfolio evidence to demonstrate understanding.

Careers

Will support entry in to the hair and beauty industry
This course is run in conjunction with City College and will involve students working at different sites. Students will need a level 1 Hair qualification.
