Course Content

Students must carry out a piece of research which shows the development of ideas. There are four possible options for students on which to base their work:

1. A dissertation
2. An investigation
3. A performance
4. An artefact

Students work under the guidance and supervision of a member of staff but must be self motivated and be prepared to develop their own ideas and to carry out research.

The course is very personalised and allows students to explore ideas and theories which may be linked to their other advanced level courses or as preparation for their future career.

Assessment

Assessment is carried out by an internal member of staff and is based on the work done by the students followed by assessment of a final presentation of their findings. This is then sent to an external examiner.

Possible Careers

This course is seen as ideal preparation for higher education and develops skills needed in university life.
