A Level DramaExam Board EdexcelCourse ContentThis course is ideal for students who want to develop knowledge and understanding of both practical drama and a theoretical evaluation study of how drama works. In Unit 1 students will explore two texts through practical work in class and written assignments as homework. They will also see a live professional theatre production and evaluate it in the form of an essay. In Unit 2 students concentrate very much on practical work. They will be directed in a full scale production in The Windmill Theatre as well as performing a monologue or duologue in front of a visiting examiner. Unit 3 will involve students working in groups to create an original piece of theatre lasting around 40 mins which will be performed in The Windmill Theatre. In Unit 4 students will study a set text and a specific period of Theatre History. This will be examined in a 2 hr 30 written exam. AssessmentAt AS and A2 level, assessment is both internally and externally assessed, including practical performances and theoretical written exams. Possible CareersActing, directing, teaching and communication with many of our ex-students going on to have careers in the performing arts.
