Creative and Media Diploma

Course Content
The creative and media diploma is a practical course in which students learn by doing. Students could be learning how to put on a show, organise an art exhibition or make a film whilst finding out about the current creative and media workplace. The full diploma is equivalent to 3.5 A levels in terms of UCAS points. Students will need to have achieved at least grade C’s in GCSE english, maths and I.C.T.
Units :
- Capture : Research a particular medium such as photography or art and capture something in that medium.
- Show : Contribute to the organisation and running of a show, including publicity.
- Interaction : Work with the community to produce a product such as a short film.
Commission : Fulfil a commission issued by an outside client.
- Evaluation : An evaluation of the work done in two of the units.
- Investigation : Research a creative and media practitioner who works in two disciplines. (e.g. John Williams’ music for films)
The diploma also includes:
- Ten days work experience
- An extended project
- Additional and specialist learning
Assessment
Four internally assessed units.
Two externally assessed units.
Possible Careers
Any practical career in the arts.
