A Level Travel and Tourism

Travel and tourism examines the all the reasons why people travel away from home, for business, leisure or visiting friends and family in the UK or abroad. It will examine the organisations which enable this to happen. You will study different aspects of the industry and its main sectors including:

  • Transport Providers
  • Accommodation Providers
  • Tour Operators
  • Travel
  • Agents
  • Visitor Attractions
  • Support Service Providers

Current Issues in Travel & Tourism

During the course students have the opportunity to actively experience the travel and tourism industry. They will research different aspects of how organisations work and act as employees arranging trips for real customers.

Assessment

Two thirds of the assessment is through coursework assignments and one third through examination.
AS year 12 – 2 projects and 1 exam
A2 year 13 – 2 projects and 1 exam

The future

The GCE in Travel & Tourism will give you a broad understanding of the industry and will allow you to progress to higher education, training or employment.
