A Level TextilesIt may be possible to offer this course subject to demand. The course builds upon knowledge and skills gained in GCSE Textiles. Unit 1Textile Materials and Components Unit 2Design and Market influences: looking at the broader perspectives of the design world. Unit 3Process and Manufacture: looking at manufacturing methods used to make, finish, and decorate materials. AssesmentAssessment is part exam and part coursework (40 hours at AS, 50 hours at A2) In the second year of the course, (A2) students will work on an additional project product study (25 hours) which will test students ability to analyse, synthesise and draw conclusions from an in-depth study of the designing and making of a product. Students will be expected to equip themselves with basic sewing equipment and provide materials. They should be willing to work after college hours to make full use of the sewing machines, overlockers, and ICT facilities.
