BTEC National Award in Sport

The BTEC National Award in Sport has a vocational emphasis and provides an introduction for students looking to build a career in sport.

This is a 2 year course equivalent to 1 ‘A’ level.

Students study 6 units of work – 3 in the first year and 3 in year 2:

  • The Body in Action
  • Health and Safety in Sport
  • Training and Fitness for Sport
  • Sports Coaching
  • Working with Children
  • Practical Team Sports

Students will be involved in visits to the community allowing them the opportunity to apply the learning material in a practical environment.

Students will need to be committed to in-depth independent study/research and be able to organise their workload to meet assignment deadlines.

Students also need to be actively involved in sport at a competitive level throughout the course if the practical sports study is to be completed successfully.
