A Level in Music Technology

This is an ideal course for those who enjoy using technology to create music.

You will learn how to:

• produce performances using sequencing software in a range of musical styles.
• develop the skills required to make high quality recordings of musical performances
• learn how to compose and arrange using technology
• develop your knowledge of the principles and development of music technology
• learn how to control and interpret data

Assessment at AS

2 pieces of recording coursework 30%
2 pieces of arranging coursework 30%
1 listening exam 40%

Assessment at A2:

• Create a MIDI backing track
• Compose 2 original pieces
• 1 exam on film Music
• 1 exam on controlling and interpreting
• MIDI data

The Future

Careers in the music industry including: sound engineer, sound recording, film/TV composer, music journalism, career in computing/ICT.

Can lead to degree or HND in music, music technology, performing arts.
