A Level LawLaw was introduced to the Blatchington Mill Sixth Form curriculum in 2003 and has proved a very popular option with students. The course will encourage students to develop an understanding of legal method, reasoning and logical thinking as well as the ability to communicate legal arguments. The AS course is divided into 2 units
At A2, students study 2 further units:
AssessmentUnits are assessed in a number of different ways. These include some essay questions and written scenarios with compulsory multi-part questions. Unit 4 contains a synoptic assessment, requiring the use of illustrations drawn from material studied in any of the modules. The course also includes visits from speakers involved in the legal world, as well as trips to Parliament and the courts (to observe a criminal trial) and participating in our own college mock trial. Students are also encouraged to discuss and debate legal issues and problems throughout the course, as well as looking at current affairs which involve issues of legal interest. The FutureThis course is ideal for those students considering a career in Law or simply wanting to find out more about the way in which the legal system operates, and how it affects our lives. |
