A Level History

We will be following a Modern History Programme which we believe helps students to understand the world in which we live today. Our courses have proved to be popular and students have gained excellent results in the past few years.

AS Unit 1

AS Unit 2

British History Depth Studies (1 topic)
‘Britain and the Nationalist Challenge in India’ 1900-1947

A2 Unit 3

Depth Studies and Associated Historical Controversies
‘A World Divided’
Superpower Relations 1944-1990

A2 Unit 4

Internally assessed Personal Enquiry

Assessment:

For AS, there are two 1 hour 20 minute exams.
For A2, there is one 2 hour exam and two extended essays.

Possible careers:

History can lead to many careers in such fields as Law, Education, Journalism, Civil Service and Business. It forms part of most Arts and Social Science degrees. Science courses at graduate and post-graduate level welcome a knowledge of
post-16 History.
