A Level Drama and Theatre Studies
A Level Drama and Theatre Studies is a popular and successful course split into six units-three at A/S and three at A2.
Unit One:
Exploration of Drama and Theatre(30%)
In this unit you will study two different plays. Your understanding of the texts will be reinforced through a series of practical workshops. You will record your investigations in a portfolio called your Exploration Notes.
Unit Two:
Text in Performance (40%)
During this unit you will perform in a production of a play. It will be staged in our own Windmill Theatre.
Unit Three:
Text in Context (30%)
This is a written exam split into two areas. The first links to your role in your Unit Two production. The second section will test will test your ability to appreciate live theatre.
Assessment
This completes the A/S Course. In the A2 part of the exam you will create an original piece of theatre as part of a ‘Group Project’. You will also study both Shakespearian Theatre and Greek Tragedy.
Unit One is coursework based and will be internally assessed. Units Two and Three are both externally examined.
