BTEC National Award in Performing Arts (Dance)
The BTEC dance course is an exciting alternative to A-Level Dance. The course runs over two years and is the equivalent of one A2 Level. The course includes:
- Development of dance technique and performance skills
- The opportunity to study and choreograph using a wide range of dance styles, not just contemporary
- Experience of setting up and running a dance company
- A residential trip to the West End in London, including dance performances and workshops
Modules
- Contemporary Dance
- Choreography
- Dance Performance (Urban, Jazz/Musical Theatre and Contemporary dance styles)
- Dance Appreciation
- Final Year 13 Performance
In Year 13 students form their own dance company and present their own evening production in the Windmill Theatre.
Assessment
There are no formal exams but there are ongoing assessments of each module.
In Year 13 the majority of work is geared towards the final assessed performance.
