Artsmark Gold Award
In May 2012 Blatchington Mill School was awarded Artsmark Gold status for the fourth time. This is the highest level of achievement a school can be awarded and recognises a continued high standard of provision and success in the arts and culture. Arts Award incorporates Performing and Visual Arts and celebrates the planned and high quality achievements in our own school and in the wider community. The Award recognises our successful and sustained relationships with Arts practitioners and cultural organisations such as the Brighton Dome, Brighton Early Music Festival, Glyndebourne, National Theatre, Same Sky and our contribution towards our students’ spiritual, moral, social and cultural development.
The Healthy Schools initiative helps children and young people gain the skills and knowledge to make informed health and life choices and to reach their full potential.
More than 97% of schools nationally are now involved in the programme and over 70% of schools have achieved National Healthy School Status. Our school was awarded Healthy School status in 2006.

Eco-Schools is an international award programme that guides schools on their sustainable journey, providing a framework to help embed these principles into the heart of school life. Blatchington Mill has achieved the Eco Schools Bronze award and are working towards the Silver award.

The school was first designated an RM Centre of Excellence in 2000 for its innovative use of ICT. Blatchington Mill is now one of the leading schools in the UK for its use of technology, especially for BMS360, a secure SharePoint site serving student, staff and parents, which has been the subject of 2 Microsoft technical case studies in the USA.

More recently we have been made a mentor school in Microsoft's Innovative Schools Programme, and we are a lead school in Microsoft's new Innovative Expert Educator programme. Microsoft's Innovative Schools The British Computer Society The British Computer Society, the Chartered Institute for IT, have this year invited us to become a partner school for their scholarship programme for Computer Science Teacher Training. We are also a lead school in their Network of Excellence initiative for Computing teaching, meeting their criteria for rigorous Computer Science teaching.
Blatch is one of several Bike-It schools in Brighton and Hove. The Bike-It programme encourages students and staff to cycle safely to school. It is part of an initiative by Sustrans to champion walking and cycling to school.

Sainsbury School Games - Bronze Award
The Sainsbury's School Games is a unique opportunity to motivate and inspire millions of young people across the country to take part in more competitive school sport.
The Games are made up of three levels of activity: competition in schools, between schools, and at a county/area level:
- Intra-school (Level 1) - sporting competition for all students in school through intra-school competition.
- Inter-school (Level 2) - individuals and teams are selected to represent their schools in local inter-school competitions.
- Sainsbury's School Games Festivals (Level 3) – the county/area will stage multi-sport Sainsbury's School Games Festivals as a culmination of year-round school sport competition.
